National Team Cross Country Team Opportunities for Junior and Senior Athletes

USA Track & Field will be offering two international cross country national team opportunities for Junior (Under 20) and Senior Athletes in 2014.

Eligible athletes may earn a place on national teams competing at the BUPA Great Edinburgh International Team Challenge (January 11, Edinburgh, Scotland) and the North America, Central American, & Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships (February 22, Tobago, Trinidad & Tobago).

Junior National Team Cross Country Team Opportunities

In order to be eligible for any of the following teams, the prospective Junior Athlete must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States and meet all other USATF and IAAF eligibility requirements
  • Be a USA Track & Field member in good standing.
  • Be under the age of 20, but at least 16 years of age on December 31, 2014 (born in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998)
  • Possess a U.S. passport valid through December 31, 2014.

 

2014 USA National Junior Cross Country Teams:

  • January 11, 2014: BUPA Great Edinburgh International Team Challenge will be conducted in Edinburgh, UK. Events include: junior women's 4 km & junior men's 6 km. Athletes (6 male & 6 female) will be selected by the USATF Cross Country Council based upon performances at national level Fall 2013 cross country championship events (e.g., USATF, collegiate, and high school events).   • February 22, 2014: North America, Central American, & Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships will be conducted in Trinidad & Tobago. Events include: junior women's 4 km & junior men's 6 km. Athletes (5 male & 5 female) will be selected by the USATF Cross Country Council based upon performances at national level Fall 2013 cross country championship events (e.g., USATF, collegiate, and high school events). Senior National Team Cross Country Team Opportunities

In order to be eligible for any of the following teams, the prospective Senior Athlete must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States and meet all other USATF and IAAF eligibility requirements
  • Be a USA Track & Field member in good standing.
  • Possess a U.S. passport valid through December 31, 2014.

 

2014 USA National Senior Cross Country Teams:

  • January 11, 2014: BUPA Great Edinburgh International Team Challenge will be conducted in Edinburgh, UK. Events include: senior women's 6 km (nine athletes) & senior men's 8 km (nine athletes). A minimum of six male and six female senior athletes will select themselves by order of finish at the 2013 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships (Dec 14, 2013; Bend, Oregon); the remaining three positions on each team will be selected by the Cross Country Council following procedures outlined in the official selection procedures. I'm looking for a list too -- the ones I know of so far are they NW boys: Dressel, Anderson, Wilmot and Maton.
